The University of Iowa and the Department of Athletics are aware of the sports wagering investigation and are fully cooperating. We have alerted the NCAA of the potential violations and we have hired outside counsel to assist in the investigative process.

The athletics department provides education on NCAA rules regarding the the prohibition of sports wagering as well as the potential consequences.

Additional Information

  • The university has received information about 111 individuals.
    • This includes 26 current student-athletes from baseball, football, men’s basketball, men’s track and field, and men's wrestling, as well as one full-time employee of the UI Department of Athletics.
    • The vast majority of the individuals are student-staff, former student-athletes, or those with no connection to UI Athletics.
    • The list does not include any current or former coaches.

Football Recruiting ***QB TARGET DRAKE LINDSEY PREVIEWS UPCOMING VISIT***

After Aaron Philo decommitted from the Gophers on April 10th, Minnesota has been selective in who they offer as they as they continue to evaluate talent during the spring.

Fayetteville (Ark.) signal-caller Drake Lindsey picked up an offer from the Gophers on April 18th and remains a prime target for the coaching staff after quarterbacks coach Greg Harbaugh swung Lindsey's school to watch the 6-foot-5, 225-pounder throw.

During his junior season, Lindsey put up some eye-popping stats, throwing for 3,850 yards to go along with 38 touchdowns against only three interceptions.

Lindsey will take the next step in the relationship-building process later this week when he arrives on Minnesota's campus on Friday for an unofficial visit.

The Arkansas native is excited about his visit and is also quite familiar with the Minneapolis area as well - he breaks it down with TGR below.

- On the biggest things he's looking forward to seeing on his visit:

"I'm super familiar with Minneapolis, so I’m really just excited to see the campus and see where I would be living and the academic center. Also, just see all the facilities. Already love the coaches."

- On his relationship with Minnesota's coaching staff:

"It’s going really good. I really like Coach (Greg) Harbaugh, he’s young energetic and has a lot of passion for the game. I really like Coach (P.J.) Fleck also."

- On what the coaches like about your film and abilities at quarterback:

"Harbaugh offered me off my film and then came to watch practice and really loved what he saw. They love how big I am and how good my feet are for my size and my ball delivery. Love how I can extend plays inside the pocket and out."

- On his familiarity with the Minneapolis area:

"So, my grandfather (Jim Lindsey) played for the Vikings from 1965-1972 and was a captain of the special teams and also played running back. So we go back for Vikings games."

NOTES FROM THE INTERVIEW: Lindsey said the only other school he's visited so far is Colorado State, an official back in April. He doesn't have any other visits planned currently.

Football Recruiting LB Commit Brady Pretzlaff speaks on the culture at Minnesota

"I see it all the time, the staff is always reinforcing the idea of the culture, and the players have definitely picked it up and ran with it as well," Pretzlaff said. "Everyone in there is going after the same goal and doing it in the same way, and that is what I think about when I think about the culture at Minnesota."
