Chatted with North Texas guard Tylor Perry. Minnesota has been linked to the reigning C-USA player of the year who averaged 17.3 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Their is mutual interest between the two parties, here is what Perry had to say about Minnesota.

"Conversations have been good. Staff has talked to my family and I'm really close with Payton Willis and Eric Curry. Coach Johnson is coming to see me soon.."

Perry prepped at Springdale (Ark.) Har-Ber, so he's got Arkansas ties with Willis and Curry. He is scheduled to visit Florida this weekend and Arkansas will get a visit as well.

"I use to play against Payton Willis and we became close over the years. Me and Eric played for the same AAU coaches."

Think it's a long shot the Gophers land him, but they have his ear.

Football Recruiting ***OL GARRETT SEXTON DETAILS VISIT BEFORE COLLEGE DECISION***

Just days after releasing a Top 4 that included Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, and Oklahoma, Hartland (Wisc.) Arrowhead offensive tackle Garrett Sexton made a return trip to the Twin Cities for a more in-depth visit with the Gophers.

"I really had some good conversations with their strength coach, Coach (Dan) Nichol and Coach (P.J.) Fleck, and Coach (Brian) Callahan," Sexton noted of his trip. "Me and my family sat down and had some great conversations with them. We watched their scrimmage and during their scrimmage I was able to talk to John Michael Schmitz for about an hour. We were just chatting while we were watching the scrimmage, so that was really good. He gave me a lot of good insight about Minnesota."

Sexton is no stranger to Minnesota, having previously visited for two games during the fall and he can see the progression of the Gophers' program under P.J. Fleck.

"I think they are going to be a really good developmental program. They will be able to develop me into what they want me to be. They've been winning a lot the last couple of years and I think Coach Fleck really has the program moving in the right direction. I think he's turned them around since getting there."

Standing 6-foot-7, 250-pounds with an 85" wingspan, the future offensive tackle was also impressed observing Coach Callahan during practice and seeing the respect the players show him.

"I think Coach Callahan really has their techniques sound. He really seems like he knows what he's doing just watching the drills they were doing. The players just show a lot of respect towards him and they work really efficiently together. I think they rely on each other a lot and that is what every good offensive line needs."

For Sexton, Saturday's visit to Minnesota was more in-depth than the previous trip, which was very important as he nears his college decision that is currently set for May 1st.

"We really got to see the campus, which was great. I want to study business, so we went to the Carlson School of Business and my family and I got to meet with a professor there, which was great. They have a great business school and a great school overall there. I know I would get a great degree too if I went there."

Minnesota, Iowa, Penn State, and Oklahoma have been able to separate themselves throughout Sexton's recruiting process for one big reason...relationships.

"The biggest thing for me is the relationship with the coaches. That's honestly why all these four schools made the Top 4. I talk with these coaches on a consistent basis and I like them a lot from the position coach to the head coach to the strength coach. That's probably the biggest thing for me."

Up next for Sexton before making his college decision will be a visit to Oklahoma on April 22nd.

Football Recruiting ***2025 QB SCOTTY FOX TALKS VISIT AND OFFER***

Among the talented group of visitors on Saturday was rising 2025 quarterback Scotty Fox out of Mentor (Oh.). Gophers' co-offensive coordinator/quarterback coach Greg Harbaugh has been interested in the 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal-caller for a while and didn't hesitate to extend an offer while he was on campus over the weekend.

"Me and Coach Harbaugh talked on the phone a few weeks before (my visit) and kept in contact since, along with the staff too," Fox noted. "I like him a lot. He does a great job of explaining things and talking ball."

Fox got an in-depth look at Minnesota during his visit and came away extremely impressed with everything he saw.

"What stood out to me while I was on campus was the entire city. The campus was amazing. The coaches and staff were so genuine and nice. The football facilities were unbelievable."

During his sophomore campaign, Fox put up stellar numbers. Throwing for 3,134 yards and 30 touchdowns with a 60% completion percentage. For Harbaugh, Fox's film showed he is more than capable of being a successful quarterback in the Big Ten.

"He said he likes my film a lot and that my skill set fits the program, that's why he offered."

Minnesota is the first power five offer for Fox, who also possesses MAC offers from Miami (Oh.), Akron, Toledo, Bowling Green.

Mayasich

The Gophers took 94-year-old John Mayasich along to the Frozen Four. He hasn't been since he last played there in 1954. FYI, Mayasich still holds all the scoring records at the U. Take a look at his records; they are unbelievable. I was surprised to hear that no Gopher coach has won coach of he year since Mariucci in 1954. Motzko just won one. What about Herbie Brooks? He won three frozen fours in the Seventies. Lucia also had some amazing teams in 2002-2003 with Potulny and the guys.

Other Sports OT: Masters 2023

Unsure how many golfers we have in here, but wanted to make this thread for discussion just in case anyone celebrates this weekend the same way I do.

Anyone watching or in attendance this week?

Hovland off to a flaming start, Rahm with a fantastic recovery after a 4-putt on 1, and Brooks doing a good job of bringing his recent LIV success to Augusta so far.

I live about two hours from Augusta and the forecast here has actually gotten slightly better for the weekend, but Augusta still looks pretty rough. Hoping we can finish on time!
