Subscription Renewed

Can 1 of the mods message me directly. I looked at my credit card bill today and saw $100 charge from Rivals. I didn't renew my subscription and I wasn't planning on renewing for 2019 so I need that refunded....

I tried to call the customer service number of Rivals but it was just a recording saying this number is no longer active.

The playoff is settled. Expanding the playoffs would be idiotic. Also Notre Dame sucks

Once again the Irish have faceplanfed in a big post season game.

There were not 4 deserving teams this year. Period.

Also, the Irish should no longer get the benefit of the doubt. They seemingly get crushed in the post season almost every year.

Regardless, the drop off between the top 2-4 teams and everybody else is enormous. And that fact is heightened in neutral site games.

If you expand the playoff then you’re gonna get a lot more of these uncompetitive snooze fests going forward.

Anybody else get the rivals email offering

Pittsburgh Steelers

Is there something wrong in Pittsburgh with ownership, Big Ben, front office or Coach Tomlin? We had Bell sit out the entire year because he was insulted by the contract offer. Now you have the best WR in the game wanting out of Pittsburgh. Who are these guys getting bad advise from? Brown's agent called Tomlin Sunday morning and said he was good to go for the game after not being around most of the week. Tomlin told Drew Rosenhaus (sp?) that isn't how it works and that AB was inactive.

For pulling a stunt like that he should have been suspended, not just inactive. The egos of these athletes just keeps turning me off to the games more and more.

R.I.P. Bronco...

For the geezers on the board, Sue Cox Platou - better known as "Bronco" - passed away. She was a football prognosticator on WCCO TV for a long time and had a reported high winning percentage. The news report mentions that Jimmy The Greek often called her for insight. She sold the part & many who viewed her on TV never heard her predictions.

She graduated from the U and was well known for being married to star Gopher QB Bobby Cox for many years as well as being very involved in cultural activities around town. The Strib story can be found here: http://www.startribune.com/susan-co...ticator-known-as-bronco-dies-at-83/503738422/

Basketball Richard Pitino pre-Wisconsin presser notes

  • Needed this break to get healthy and for Dupree and Curry to get back into the swing of things.
  • Excited about where we're at at 11-2 and 10-1 in the non-conference, especially for the adversity we've hit.
  • Ethan Happ is maybe the most unique player I've ever seen. Getting (guard D'Mitrik) Trice back helps them.
  • Happ is unstoppable if you go one-on-one with him. Teams pick their poison of trapping him or letting him beat you with twos. He's unorthodox. He's not like a lot of bigs out there right now. His footwork, his ability to dribble -- he's a really good ball handler from anywhere on the court -- he just presents a lot of challenges.
  • There are six guys on are team that we're on the NCAA Tournament team. Those six guys have got to be able to show the other guys. Getting Eric back makes us older. Those six have to be the voice of this team.
  • Murphy's shown great leadership. That's been his biggest improvement. He gets it. Dupree does too, of course, but he's obviously dealing with some tough times with his mom.
  • There have been games where Murphy's not getting a lot of first half shot attempts. It shouldn't be me running plays to get someone a shot. I have an expression that "let the ball find you, don't go find the ball." The more movement that everyone does, the better looks we'll get. It's not just one thing with Amir and Jordan.
  • Curry's very, very active. He keeps our defense more connected and our offense flowing. He's a very cerebral player, and he's a very good defender in the post.
  • I don't know why Wisconsin played at Western Kentucky. That's a hard game to play. That's a hard environment.
  • Nate Reuvers is going to be good. He's skilled, he's getting bigger and stronger.
  • Audrea (Eric Curry's mother) is very, very loyal. She's always quick to send me a positive text. She's a great mother.
  • Kenpom isn't rankings. He shows you where teams are at from a predictive nature for offensive and defensive efficiency. He's said over and over that it's not a rankings system. It's an evaluator for how you predict. I'm not surprised by why we're at. If you look at Kenpom, winning doesn't necessarily matter. If this was ten years ago, we might be ranked in the top 20 right now (in the polls), but (in the age of Kenpom) it's about how you win.

Gophers on the positive side

Hopefully with the Vike Queens losing today, they won't steal all the headlines this winter and spring. And with the Gophers showing they have really improved they can get some of it which is well deserved.
I'm so sick of hearing 10 minutes of all the sports shows talking about the Vike Queens and nothing on the Gophers. It's time to give these young guys some coverage.
I hope it's a winter of bad things for the Queens.

Bowl Game Results

The demand for expanding the playoff is based on many things. Looking at the history of the BCS it's not based on needing to find "the best team".

This bowl season about to see losses by the committee's No. 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 9 teams. Not exactly the strongest argument for an 8-team playoff.
