A couple BB notes

I noticed we're ranked #25 by CBS Sports (which updates their rankings more often). But even more noteworthy is our RPI shot up to #5. We had been holding steady in the #10-15 range for a while.

Also, as Matt's Twitter noted....I like the tweet by Adam Zagoria, who is a well-known high-school hoops insider as most of you know. He again tweeted that Jamir Harris might be the best shooter in the nation. Apparently his team plays tough competition, and Harris is shooting 50+ percent from the arc.

Good news/bad news

Great activity on the flipping players front. Love seeing the action.
However.
Anyone concerned about the net result here?
-total number of scholarships now in this year?
-who (player wise commits)from the previous regime goes away?
-is Fleck already counting (scholarship wise) on the final effect of the suspensions?
-gotta save room for Cashman and possibly keeping T Moore.
-if Fleck is indeed successful are we going to regret not having more room next year?
Again no complaints, just questions worth fleshing out

Expectations for Fleck

I was wrong this year. I predicted 6 regular season wins and a win in a meaningless bowl game.

We won 8 and then a good bowl game victory to finish at 9.

The defense (we knew the secondary was good, but the front 7 got better each week and ended up being really good by seasons end), played better than I thought. I underestimated the talent on that side of the ball.

That said...

And Fleck said it himself in his interviews yesterday when he kept saying we start by "digging"...

...We will be lucky IMHO to win 7 -8 games next year. So much inexperience and youth.

I think Fleck is a great hire. I believe in his system and what he wants to accomplish. I think he WILL lead us to a B10 Championship Game and maybe more...

...But not next year.

We have zero experience at the most important position on the field (QB).

Our starting center, and our best WR by far are gone.

On D, the Expe Bros finished the year well and they are gone. The conference's best freshman DB (Winfield) is gone. Myrick and Travis (both invited to the NFL combine) are gone. Travis spent 10 seconds before every snap last year getting guys in the right position on the field as he was, IMHO, the keymaster on D.

That away game against OSU will be tough as they will be a bowl team next year. At Michigan and at Iowa are tough.

If Fleck gets us to 6-6 or 7-5 with a couple good wins and a couple close loses to good teams, I will be really excited about our team and future.

What say y'all ?

Again, I love the Fleck hire. My oars are coming in from Amazon.com on rush order. I just think realistic expectations are 6-7 wins.

Thoughts on Coaching Changes

I would like to share some thoughts on Coaching changes. I grew up a Coaches kid from the time I started in 1st grade until I graduated we moved 7 times and I went to 9 different schools. It was tough and fun. My Dad would always say Coaches are just the Hired help.

I grew up a TCU fan and played there, my Dad played there. So in my 51 years I saw my Team have 11 different coaches. I was recruited by Coach Dry but played for Coach Wacker. But the truth is over the 51 years TCU is still Purple and White, they are the Horned Frogs and they still play their games at Amon Carter Stadium.

I talk to the Goal Line Club President today Bob Hughes and he is a Life long Gopher fan and he has seen many Coaching changes. I told him the Gophers are Maroon and Gold, The Mascot will always be Goldy, Ski U Mah is older than all of us and we will all sing the Rouser on Saturday at TCF. and Minnesota is in the BIG TEN!

Bob Hughes response was "I Love You" haha! That's Awesome!

January 1984 All Over again

After watching the PJ Fleck introduction press conference it took me back to 1984 and listening to the Magic Man Lou Holtz. Lets forget the past start a new, everybody has to chip in and do their part, donors, season ticket holders, administration, players. Now that we have "The Guy" the only part that really concerns me is the same thing that undermined Holtz. You guessed it administration. When a coach has big success and starts over shadowing administration then problems usually start happening. Hopefully egos wont get in the way this time around. In a previous thread I stated I was done supporting the U. After listening to Fleck I'm back on board as a season ticket holder. Hopefully the administration is too.
