There is no doubt that they have more talent than anyone in the nation. They are really really fast on the offensive side of the ball. It is nitpicking but I have seen better Alabama defenses under Saban than this year but with all that went on, this was incredible to see their guys play this well. I would say the 2 best offenses for championship teams that I have seen were last year's LSU team and this year's Alabama team.

DO YOU THINK 6 NATIONAL TITLES AT THE D1 LEVEL in a 14 YEAR PERIOD ever get matched again?? 7 natties total, in Saban's career. I am not sure about that.. It is incredible to see them do this, year in year out. Their recruiting is as good as ever.. Players know that the program turns out pros at virtually every position so young players in the program will take Saban's criticism, knowing that they will be the better players for it.. If they were a .500 team, I am not sure that the players would take Saban's criticisms in practice, the same way.

When will Saban retire?? People ask themselves if they are financially secure at that time of their life and whether they can retire to have the freedom to do what they want to do. Saban may have a different outlook at the timing of that. At this point, he will probably ask someone that posed that question to him. "RETIRE TO DO WHAT?...... I am doing what I want to be doing.. I am financially secure but I enjoy what I am doing now and still performing at the highest level in my field.. Why would I retire??" I wonder what it will take and how many more seasons he will do it. Saban turns 70 years old in October.

As a quick sidelight story, Saban started his head coaching career(1990) here in Toledo for the University of Toledo. Just one year and had a 9-2 record. His losses that year were to Central Michigan by 1 point and Navy by 4 points. INTERESTING TIDBIT but Saban turned down the application of a young and upcoming Illinois State assistant, URBAN MEYER, who wanted to work for Saban at Toledo, at the time. Of course, Meyer started his head coaching career up here in NW Ohio at Bowling Green after becoming an assistant at Notre Dame.

A great year and Ohio State should not hang their head.. Alabama had great schemes to go along with the personnel and really did not put their QB in harms way, very often. Just have to tip your hat to them and hope that the rest of the nation can catch them when they send their next boatload of players to the NFL and their next great crop of players take center stage.
