Well, Gopher Wrestling fans, our season is getting closer!!

MN Wrestling released our Non-Conference schedule on Saturday.
It's the same as last year, with a couple early tournaments, and duals against Bucknell, Campbell, SDSU and NDSU.

And like last year, we didn't schedule OKSU again.
It looks like this may continue for a while, after Spratley and Jamison transferred there, and 2025 verbal commit Landon Robideau recommitted there.
I understand that, and I'm fine with it!!

There may be BIG NEWS out, but it's not been officially confirmed.
Current Brown University Assistant Coach Michael Kemerer has agreed to be an Asst. Coach at MN!!!
This is per Pat Mineo and reported on The Guillotine.
This was supposed to be announced sometime this week, so it's likely true.

If so, as Iowa's first 5x AA and a former top recruit from PA, he would be a HUGE HELP in recruiting those states and many others!!!
We should have confirmation soon on this!

In other news, Gable Steveson worked out today for the Baltimore Ravens.

Here's the article on our Non-Conference schedule from Gophersports.com:

MINNEAPOLIS
– With the season less than two months away, the Minnesota wrestling program has unveiled its 2024-25 non-conference schedule, head coach Brandon Eggum announced.

The Golden Gophers begin the year on Nov. 9 as they split up to take part in two open tournaments. Fifteen Minnesota wrestlers will head to the Mountaineer Invite hosted by Appalachian State, while the rest of the squad will travel to Fargo, N.D., for the Bison Open.

The home opener is slated for Nov. 15 as Bucknell visits in a return trip from a year ago when the Gophers won on the road over the Bison, 37-3, in the Gophers' first dual of the season.

Two days later, Minnesota takes part in the Daktronics Open, hosted by South Dakota State. Last year at the event, Hunter Lyden and Max McEnelly took home individual titles.

The first road dual of the season sends the Gophers back to Fargo when they face North Dakota State on Nov. 22. The teams met last year in Minneapolis with the Gophers dominating, 33-7.

Minnesota's final non-conference dual sees them host Campbell on Nov. 24 in the first ever matchup between the schools.

December opens with a return trip to Brookings, S.D., for a road dual against the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State on Dec. 1. Minnesota prevailed last season in Minneapolis, 19-13.

The non-conference slate then closes out with two more open tournaments as Minnesota is scheduled to take part in both the Cougar Clash hosted by SIU-Edwardsville (Dec. 7) and the Soldier Salute in Iowa City (Dec. 29-30) for the second year in a row.

At last year's Cougar Clash, McEnelly and Andrew Sparks won titles, while McEnelly, Isaiah Salzar and Bennett Tabor all claimed first place and the team finished second at the Soldier Salute a year ago.

Season tickets are on sale now for Gopher wrestling, while single-match tickets will be available in October. Streaming and televised designations will also be announced at a later date.
