Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck announced two additional members of the football staff on Wednesday. Eric Koehler joins the Gophers as a Senior Offensive Analyst, while Chase Gallagher has been named Minnesota's Director of Recruiting Management.
Koehler joins with 26 years of experience, including 21 years as a coordinator and two as a head coach.
Koehler spent the last nine years at Miami (OH), the first seven of which were as co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He then assumed the title of assistant head coach, offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2021 and 2022 campaigns. The Redhawks won their division twice with Koehler on staff and were Mid-American Conference champions in 2019. They also played in four bowl games, including a win in the 2021 Frisco Football Classic.
Prior to Miami (OH), Koehler was the Illinois State passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the 2013 season after four seasons as Grand Valley State's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Koehler was at Wartburg for the 2002-07 seasons, including the final two as head coach. He led Wartburg to a 16-4 overall mark in his two years at the helm, including a 13-3 mark in the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Koehler's resume also includes stops at Rose-Hulman (2001), Wisconsin-Platteville (1999-00), Worcester Poly Tech (1998) and Hanover College (1997).
Gallagher comes to Minnesota after spending the last nine months at the University of Memphis where he was the Tigers' Director of Player Personnel and NFL Pro Scout Liaison. Gallagher coordinated the team's NFL Pro Day and did self-scout evaluation, analysis and management of the Memphis roster, as well as evaluation and ranking of prospective high school and transfer student-athletes.
Prior to his time at Memphis, Gallagher worked at Pitt for two years as a recruiting analyst and offensive assistant with its wide receivers. He spent the 2019 season as linebackers coach at his alma mater, Alderson Broaddus University, after two years at Coastal Carolina where he was a recruiting analyst and defensive quality control with the defensive line. Gallagher was also linebackers coach and the strength and conditioning coordinator at Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the 2015-16 seasons.
Gallagher graduated from ABU in 2015 with a bachelor of arts in sports management with a business administration minor.
