why

Why is no one talking about our Offensive Coordinator? I really don't care about points per game. Look at the production against quality opponents. Maybe this is the big issue:

-Another big game, more no creativity in the offense
-no screen passes to slow rush down
-no points in 2nd halves against Nebby and Wisco
-rarely used smith and brooks together, our two best offensive players
-ran very cautious plays in 2nd half against Nebby, Wisco and Penn State, but when we finally got behind, did not run the ball again. It makes no sense. It felt like they were panicking to me.
-very rarely run when qb is under center, this is our play action formation. just so obvious. elementary in my opinion.
-no read option in 2nd half, were we afraid leider would get hurt?

Other questions:
-Does anyone find it curious that Woli didn't have nearly as many targets per games played prior to his senior season. He was basically non-existent or considered a weak link until this year. Same was the case for KJ Maye. Do they all of suddent get good as Seniors? Or is it our offense and we only look for one guy?
-Our TE goes down, so now we can't throw to a TE? If we only had 1 TE that could run a route and catch the ball coming into the season, that is terrible.
-I still find it hard to believe we couldn't get our best players on the field at the same time (brooks & smith)
-Tyler Johnson must be in the dog house

Again, watching Ohio State and Michigan, it is amazing the creativity. We will NEVER be able to just line it up and run over good Big Ten teams. But our O coordinator must think we can.

For the record, I am not in the fire anyone category. If you are going to start anywhere, I would start with a new president that's top focus would be to win at football. All great programs started here.

WEEK 12 Prediction Thread : Gophers vs. badgers

WEEK 12 Poll:

  • Gophers Win Big

    Votes: 2 4.5%
  • Gophers Win a Close One.

    Votes: 20 45.5%
  • Gophers Lose a Close One

    Votes: 9 20.5%
  • Gophers Lose Big

    Votes: 13 29.5%

I will be short on words. I don't think we have the passing game needed to beat the badgers. Our defense stays on the field too long to shut them down.

Halftime :

Gophers 3
badgers 17

Final:

GOPHERS 10
badgers 31

What say y'all ?

My Minnesota fandom is twisted

Growing up, I was a diehard Vikings, Northstars, and Twins fan.

By the time I was in high school. I added the Gophers and Timberwolves.

Within the first couple of years being in the Navy, I dumped the Timberwolves, Twins, and I never got over the Stars going to Dallas.

Within the last few years. I have barely maintained my love for the Vikings and have pretty much put my sole love for sports in the Gophers.

That's what is killing me. I have been in the Navy for nearly 20 years and all I have to show for it is essentially the Gophers.

If I knew how to root for a team outside of Minnesota, I would do it.

Guess I am ****ed.

First Half showed us...

What we can be with good QB play. I still think we have the right schemes and ability to play very competitive defense.

The pick in the end zone felt so much like Penn State. We should have been up 20-10 at that point and kicking off.

Another punch in the gut with losing to Becky and another whole year until our next chance.

B1G FB recruiting: 9 teams in top 36; Maryland & Rutgers huge upswing...

Any MN fan who's checked 2017 B1G recruiting should be very alarmed:

1) Ohio State: #2
2) Michigan: #10
3) Maryland: #11
4) Nebraska: #24
5) Michigan State: #30
6) Penn State: #31
7) Rutgers: #33
8) Northwestern: #34
9) Wisconsin: #36
10) Iowa: #51
11) Illinois: #64
12) Indiana: #66
13) Purdue: #67
14) Minnesota: #71

If this isn't alarming enough....Illinois now has Lovie, so they will be moving up for sure in the near future. He's only signed 11 guys in this class, but he's signing quality. Purdue isn't satisfied and is making a change. Minnesota will be dropping lower than #71 when Fisher, Landrews, and whoever else leaves.

Trump skipping security briefings

https://www.washingtonpost.com/worl...c643c4-b1ae-11e6-be1c-8cec35b1ad25_story.html

'President-elect Donald Trump has received two classified intelligence briefings since his surprise election victory earlier this month, a frequency that is notably lower — at least so far — than that of his predecessors, current and former U.S. officials said.

A team of intelligence analysts has been prepared to deliver daily briefings on global developments and security threats to Trump in the two weeks since he won. Vice President-elect Mike Pence, by contrast, has set aside time for intelligence briefings almost every day since the election, officials said.'

Can't say that I'm surprised. Trump's own campaign staff repeatedly stated that Trump didn't prepare for the debate and wasn't interested in learning policy details (!).

I will be surprised if he even runs for reelection in 2020. The President of the United States is an extremely arduous, time consuming job. Trump doesn't seem interested in working that hard.

After today's game....

Coyle will have a decision to make. If we win it will be a no brainer. No way they get rid of Claeys then. If we lose things could get dicey. I'm totally with Opie on this. We simply have to recruit better to get beyond mediocrity. Yes, this staff does a good job of evaluating and developing the level of talent they are now bringing in. Just think what a Jabril Peppers could mean to this team. Or a J.T. Barrett? Or someone comparable. If the Gophers could get just one or two really highly talented type players every year, which would mean five or six on the team at any given time, how would that effect the team? Say an all-American type defensive end, quarterback, d-back or running back. That's exactly what keeps helmet schools on top, not a whole roster. That's hard to do given our location and lack of local talent. If Coyle decides to retain Claeys he's going to have to figure out a way to help this team recruit better. Neither of them are getting the job done now the way things look.
