Think about this, seriously

If all of us right now is the leadership of Minnesota starting with the Stillwater high school state championship of 1995. Right now, we're all literally watching the graduating class of 1996 playing right now.

Think about all the talent that has graduated from high schools in Minnesota and the University of Minnesota was basically the big brother to all of it.

The University of Minnesota would be an absolute powerhouse. Since then, Minnesota would be plum full of ex gopher players.

With that, with that total economy having that connecting and affinity with the U, it would be game over.

This would be the Texas and USC right now.

Its quiet......too quiet.

This is about as quiet as I have seen this board in discussions on the actual upcoming game. I even resorted to looking up the Fort Collins Coloradean (actual name) to try to find some fodder for discussion and even that was a no go. Coach quipped about the defense being the best they will see this year, and how it helps to be playing a BIG team. 3 different running backs will see time for them. Thats about it

Depth Chart vs. Colorado State

Interesting Depth Chart here. No Hardin and Buford once again because of suspension, Ace Rogers still listed as out with Rallis, Still, and Lingen no surprises there. Antonio Shenault listed as the starter opposite of Myrick, with Coney Durr being his first backup. As I have said numerous times, expect Durr to get a lot of run on defense very soon, he's talented. Backing up Myrick is Oregon transfer and Redshirt Senior Eric Amoako, who has been moved to corner for depth reasons and he could see some time this week as well. Defensive line is healthy right now as are the linebackers, not much has changed there. Calhoun is back with the starters after a minor injury last week. Starting receivers once again Johnson, Woli, and Smith. Big news also: Brooks is back! Check it out:

Story/Video: 3-star Georgia DT Ellison Hubbard talks Minnesota, sets official visit

I recently had the chance to catch up with three-star Loganville (Ga.) Grayson DT target Ellison Hubbard and we talked about Minnesota coming to see him play this past Friday night, as well as his plans to come for an official visit early next month. The story linked below also includes some video highlights I shot as well as some analysis on his game.

Here's the link.

Lamar Jackson from Louisville - The 2nd coming of Vince Young??

Lamar Jackson has put up tremendous numbers.. I think he is an awesome COLLEGE QB as he can really accelerate for a guy that big and tall.. Reminds me of Vince Young of Texas....

My 'wet noodle' comment is that I watched his games on DVR.... He has awfully talented receivers that run good routes so he has hit a lot of wide open receivers with his passes....I wonder if he will be able to make the reads and execute with the passes in tight windows needed in the NFL.. I guess you could say that for just about any other college QB as well. He is tremendously successful at the read option and no doubt he has a cannon for an arm and can accelerate very quickly for a man his size. Got a very strong arm without having to push off the back foot. Passes flat footed quite a bit. Very dangerous runner.

What kind of NFL QB do you think he will be, in time?? Lots of upside but I think it is apparent that he will need a lot of tutelage to play at the next level.

Talk to me

A lot of people still talk about Tim Brewster. Think about the time he came. Not just as a head coach but where all of us where at as people when he got here.

If you can remember the total state of the program, along with where you were at, at that time,

Tell me what you would have done differently or better?

From the beginning of his leadership look where the program is at. My true fandom with the gophers starts with Tim Brewster.

Basketball recruiting starts very young

I have followed recruiting for a very long time.. Spent many hours in gyms. I don't do that so much anymore but I still read and hear a lot of information, even besides this site... I can tell you 3-4 recruited players from each HS class in Minnesota and I live over 500 miles away.. That is just how it happens.

I read a comment in another thread that had to do with talking about 2019 recruiting.... That is a sophomore in HS....I can guarantee that coaches have a good idea down to the 6th grade which kids have potential to be very good. Maybe even younger... AAU tournaments have made the recruiting world smaller and there are tons of websites out there that are trying their hand at exposing the world to these young kids.. Is it sleazy?? Depends on your perspective.. It can be.. It can also give kids opportunities not afforded to them otherwise.. But it is a reality that is going to stay.

Here are the 2019 Minnesota HS names that I guarantee MJH and crew will start to make more prominent on this site... Obviously Matt Hurt......Courtney Brown(F) Tyrell Terry(PG), Zeke Nnaji(Big), will also be on the list of kids recruited at the national level from Minnesota. I know there are more. David Roddy, Tyler Wahl, Bennett Otto, Zach Zebrowski, Julian Wright, Peter Anderson. Maybe not all these will be D1 players and some others unknown will develop out of nowhere. There are many many more that MJH may analyze and some will have maxed out their abilities and get passed up, I dont even have to talk to MJH to know that if these kids are healthy and remain in the state of Minnesota, they will be talked about by someone, at length. These are all kids that I will keep track of through the next couple of years. Think about this.. If I know about these kids, living over 500 miles away from the Twin Cities, how well do you think the college coaches know about these kids because that is their living??

2020, the name to know instate is Jalen Suggs for sure as a guard. There are guards named Dobbs and Patterson with a forward named Ijadimbola from Minnesota that I have my eyes and ears out about from this far away..An out of state EAST COAST 2020 name to keep track of is Jabari Abdur Rahim.. His dad, Shareef, played in the NBA after playing at University of California. Shareef is now an assistant director of operations for the NBA so he will probably stay in the NYC metro area so his kid will be playing HS ball there for 4 years.. Jabari is a 6-6 forward as a HS freshman in New Jersey and who knows how much more this kid will grow. My point is that it is not unusual for people to recruit 2019s and younger, if by nothing else, just watching games and keeping in contact with coaches of AAU and HS programs

Be gone...and don't let the door hit you on the way out!

These MN hoop high school players that kept Gophers on the line so long could have been forth right and claimed long ago that they were going somewhere else.

MN HS kids not only choosing to go somewhere out state hurts, but they let the Gopher coaches stay on the hook for so long that it took away time that could have been used to focus on other players. They knew all along they were going somewhere else. This class was classless.

So go, get on the next bus out...Cya
