Credit EJ for finding half of these guys. I'll add more names if they come.

All of the 2017s will be camping at the Senior One Day Camp tomorrow, and all the 2018s will be camping at the Junior Elite Camp on Sunday, other than Aune, who's camping tomorrow.

2018 Burnsville ATH Tre Thomas - Hudl

Nico Bolden could certainly earn an offer if he performs well. I've heard great things about Owen King, so I'm excited to watch him throw. Jalen Morrison has some position versatility but will be camping as a DT tomorrow. He holds offers from South Dakota State and North Dakota. Others with offers are Gray Davis (New Mexico State and several FCS programs), JJ Drew (Air Force, Cornell, Miami-OH, New Mexico), and Leif Bungum (North Dakota).

Many local names you've heard of before aren't attending for various reasons. Ezekiel Ott is injured. Malik Lofton and Deyon Campbell just announced they're going to make their decisions soon. Luke Chuol, Tanner Sundt, and Nash Jensen are committed to NDSU. Ricky Floyd is out of town. Jeremiah Coddon is playing with Howard Pulley in Milwaukee.

None of the commits are camping, other than maybe Fisher. The only other BBQ visitor that might camp is Javan Hawes.

Who is already over at Scout that is a member here??

Please dont tell me LNH.. The rest I can handle as I think you all are very interesting...I saw Irwina, Gophmeister, 101stGopher, who are familiar names... I am considering adding a membership over there for 3 months just to see it. If I like it, I may just stay. But I like the posters over here so that is what is keeping me. I think MJH is going to work his hardest to make this site a good one and said he is looking to bring on some top writers.. I admit the losing RJ is a tough blow and I do enjoy Burns' comments A LOT. Unlimited424 should run his own site as his posts are about as good as it gets. Bradt always has stuff I enjoy as well as many many others.. JeffinSWM is a former NW Ohioan so I would want him around, as well. Bens, Gopher Rube, Tundra, Irwina, MOGopher, TNesley always is encouraging. Chap99, Viperman, Dubwa, rockgopher, the list goes on and on for great posters here. Like I said, I am thinking about adding but want those contributions from the posters...... Really like OPD, AAD, KCGopher, Baldy, Foggieguy, and Fogo...........I even like Wren and Opie a lot......I might be typing this with the idea of convincing myself to stay....

Are you guys jumping ship, adding both, already at both, or leaving all Gopher sites??

Claeys vs Kill recruiting

It's only July, but I have a feeling our recruiting class will be a bottom 4 class in the big10 come signing day.

I was convinced the new athletes village was going to give us a leg up in recruiting, or at least make us competitive.

Per Rivals, we are currently dead last for 2017 football recruiting.

Ohio St & Michigan are ranked 2nd & 4th nationally which is no surprise, but look at this:

RUTGERS- 13th nationally, 20 recruits, 2-4stars
Iowa- 14th nationally, 18 recruits, 3-4stars. They just got a DB who is one of the highest ranked in the country, and they landed the #1 ranked DE in the nation.
Northwestern- 21st nationally-

Admins, do you expect Claeys's ranking of his class this year to be ahead, behind or about the same as what Kill would have gotten?

After reading about Washington and Wright, I want......either or both!!

Okay, I am being silly.. Minnesota will be blessed to get one or the other. These kids are among the nation's elite, according to what I have read.. It is so vital to get a PG of this ilk, for the future of the program. This would make players like Coffey and Hurt so much better as they would have a PG they could trust. Both Washington and Wright are tearing it up in their AAU play.

I would love both players but there is a reason Ryan J said you cant have both.. I suggested it kiddingly but knew there is no way 2 top PGs are going to commit to a program in the same class. If you carry on the thought and possibly consider putting both players on the court at the same time, that can get tricky as well People automatically think if both players dribble, pass well, and shoot well that they are compatible on the floor.. That may or may not be true

One of the things about compatibility with other guards on the floor is measured by how they play, off the ball. I think the lesson is the LA Lakers in Magic Johnson's rookie year... The Lakers had Norm Nixon, who was a phenomenal athlete, good dribbler, and shooter.. But you could tell the Lakers wanted to let Magic run the offense early in his career and Nixon wanted to prove to the management that was the wrong decision.. Nixon was what I call, A VOLUME BALLHANDLER.. Had to have the ball in his hands with control in the offense.. Which was counterproductive to the Lakers at the time.. Nixon was capable of 50 point games in the NBA and spectacular passes but needed to handle the ball so Magic was taking that away from him. CANT HAVE 2 PGS ON THE FLOOR LIKE THAT!! The Lakers benefited in a HUGE WAY when they got rid of Nixon and picked up Byron Scott.. Scott did not need the ball in his hands to be effective so Magic had full control of the offense.. Made that team so much better. If you put 2 incredible offensive players like Derrick Rose and Allen Iverson in their best years, together in an offense, you would say "Wow, how do we guard those guys?'' 2 'blurs' on the court together.. But both HAVE TO HAVE THE BALL IN THEIR HANDS.. I would suggest it may be fun in some games but probably would not work out for a whole season because both are volume ballhandlers. With the situations of the Heat in Miami, LeBron was more of a Magic Johnson type where Wade was the off guard.. The guy that had to learn to sacrifice was Chris Bosh, on that team so there was no real issue with ballhandling. Cleveland Cavaliers have a guy, Kyrie Irving, that has the capability of working off the ball and being satisfied with that so it is ok when LeBron handles the PG duties in a set. So it can work with 2 great ballhandlers but needs scouting and guys willing to sacrifice egos to make it work.

I say all that in considering the dream that Minnesota would have a chance at getting both... HIGHLY DOUBT either would consider Minnesota anymore if the other committed first. But if both would consider it, there has to be a lot of scouting to say that one has the ability to play off the ball while the other handles, in their sets. There have been guys that have been able to work off the ball after being PGs.... BJ Armstrong and John Paxson come to mind for the Bulls teams with Jordan... The triangle offense mitigated that some, as well. As much as some of us would want both players for depth or to play together, the reality is that we would be blessed to get either one of those guys.. I hope one commits very soon.

Jericho Sims interview

Link: Sims talks recruiting, successful AAU season

Jericho is a pretty quiet kid who keeps to himself, doesn't need a lot of attention, and with his recruitment keeps his cards close to his vest. But from what I've heard, I'd say he's the most likely in-state prospect to stay home this year.

Texas wants him bad and have been at all of his games in July. They were there today. Nebraska wants him bad. Tim Miles was in the building today and they watched him last weekend in South Carolina. They've been on him since the beginning. And there are many others that really want him, especially programs like Minnesota and Texas that want to play fast. Any team that sees his athletic ability and potential will think he's a fit.

In South Carolina, Jericho was more productive than he's ever been, but didn't produce at the same rate today against Grassroots. Next weekend, D1 Minnesota will be in Las Vegas and if he plays at the level that he did in South Carolina, he'll certainly be a top 100 prospect and pick up a half dozen more offers.

D1 Minnesota Summer Classic Friday recap

Link: D1 Minnesota Summer Classic: Friday

McKinley Wright was phenomenal in the first half pushing the pace and distributed the ball as well as I've ever seen him do before. Matthew Hurt was his usual self, getting buckets of all forms without being an overly high usage player. Jericho Sims showed off his athleticism with some highlight plays but wasn't as productive offensively as he was in South Carolina last week. If he matches his South Carolina performance in Las Vegas, I think he'll pick several more offers and crack the top 100. But he has to show that consistency (not that he played bad today). You can read more inside.

Bank/mortgage ?

I have always paid my mortgage on line. My lender (US Bank) has added a $5 service charge if you pay on line after its due. My payment is due on the 1st and because of when we get paid I often pay on a day other than the 1st. If I mail my payment in there is no extra charge unless they don't have it by the 16th so I started mailing mine in to save $5. Does this seem backwards to anyone else? Wouldn't they want you to pay on line or are they banking on people being to lazy to write a check and making $5 a month.

Hoops coaches on the road 7/15

Richard Pitino is at the NY2LA Summer Jam in Milwaukee, where he'll watch Howard Pulley (Theo John, Daniel Oturu, Gabe Kalscheur) and Wisconsin Playground Warriors (Terrence Lewis and Jordan McCabe). I'm sure he'll also be scouting out more 2017 talent in case the current targets fall through. Pulley's 15s and 16s are there as well, and I'm sure he'll watch them too.

Ben Johnson flew back from Dallas and is in Chaska for the D1 Minnesota Summer Classic, which started today. He watched D1 Minnesota's 16s and 17s play. Tim Miles and assistants from Iowa State, Virginia, and Wisconsin were in the gym at noon to watch Shae Mitchell, Jarvis Thomas, and Race Thompson and D1 Minnesota's 16s. The 17s finished just now, and Tim Miles, Thad Matta, and assistants from Dayton, Iowa State, Kansas State, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin were there. Matta offered Matthew Hurt a scholarship after the game. I'll have a full write-up on the D1 Minnesota Summer Classic later today.

Kimani Young is in Atlanta to watch Isaiah Washington at the UAA Finals. Washington sat out yesterday with an ankle injury but is playing today. I have a guy in Atlanta watching Washington now that will write a story on Washington for us, similar to how Jack Legwin covered D1 Minnesota last weekend in South Carolina.

Hoops coaches on the road

Today, Pitino watched Isaiah Washington as well as New Heights' 16U team at the UAA Finals in Atlanta. I'm assuming Kimani Young was with Pitino.

Nate Pomeday is at the NY2LA event in Milwaukee watching Howard Pulley and Terrence Lewis.

Ben Johnson is at the Great American Shootout in Dallas.

Tomorrow, I'm guessing Ben Johnson and maybe another coach will fly back to Minnesota to watch D1 Minnesota at their own tournament in Chaska.
